Competency and award issued HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.  This unit applies to workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations, include community and workplace settings.

Resus O2

Content Summary:

  • Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescue cardiopulmonary resusitaion (CPR) on an Adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor. Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescue cardiopulmonary resusitaion (CPR) on an infant resuscitation manikin placed on a firm surface.
  • Attach and operate an AED
  • Use of Bag-valve-mask
  • Use of Suction device
  • Use of oropharyngeal airway devices
  • Benefits of oxygen administration
  • Safe procedures when using medical oxygen equipment
  • Administering oxygen therapy to a spontaneously breathing patient
  • Resuscitation of a non-breathing casualty using ventilation, soft bag and mask and manually triggered oxygen powered devices
  • Restore and maintain equipment
  • Post incident debrief and evaluation


Course Duration: Blended:
1 hour of unsupervised pre-course study and 4 hours of face to face training and assessment 

Course Location: All scheduled courses are held at
the "Curran Centre" 12 Gordon Street, Coffs Harbour unless otherwise specified
Non-scheduled courses available for groups of 6 or more at our place or yours

Entry Requirements: Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and rescue breathing techniques on manikins.
Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

Payment Terms: Payment for individual participants is upfront, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and service provider. 

Assessment: Progressive assessment of the competencies will be conducted throughout the course. You will participate in both theory and practical sessions. Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Award: After the competent completion of all of the required skills and when registration procedures have been completed, you will receive a Statement of Attainment from Allens Training Pty Ltd (RTO# 90909). The program is recognised by State and National government recognition authorities under National Training Recognition Scheme.

Certificate Renewal Requirements:  Certificates will require renewal after 36
months
